Hallo, Jammers!  It's time for another episode of Animal Jam Art Gallery!

There are so many incredible artists in Jamaa, aren't there?  Huge thank you to AlienFluff, Anjulfire, AnnaBellle, Dragongirlashfur, foxsinger39, Fuzzyaj55, holoroomrose, Karalee, meganfurryfun37, Missmarshmellowmouth, rawrcookies, snowstorm40, sunny09661, Toska20, and Violetkit for letting me feature their amazing art in this video!

And congrats to today's Amazing Artist giveaway winners, missmarshmellowmouth, foxsinger39, and Dragongirlashfur!

I would love to feature your art in a future episode!  If you want your art in an upcoming episode of Animal Jam Art Gallery, just put the masterpiece(s) you want featured in your den in Animal Jam in an easy to see spot, leave your den unlocked, and send me a Jam-A-Gram or leave a comment either right here on this post, or on my Jammer Wall saying that you want your art to be featured in an episode of Animal Jam Art Gallery :)

And of course, I've been drawing the characters from Swirlshine's Jamaasian Middle story.  Today, I drew Swirlshine herself!

I really enjoy drawing the characters from this story, and it's really fun to be able to make these jammers happy :)  Plus, the practice really is helpful.    If you also read this story or you have a character in the story, fill out the form on my Jamaasian Middle Fan Art page for your character or any character(s) I haven't got the description of yet, and I'll draw them!

More info on the Masterpiece Malfunction

About a week ago, I made a blog post about a Masterpiece malfunction that my buddy brought to my attention.  Click here to view that post!  Basically, my buddy told me that they couldn't load any of their old saved Masterpiece files from before a few months ago, and when I checked for myself, I discovered I could no longer load any of my saved Masterpiece files from before February.

I have been e-mailing AJHQ about the matter, and I decided I would share the information I have learned about this glitch with you.  Sentences surrounded by quotation marks ( ' ) are copied from AJHQ's messages to me.

It started when Animal Jam updated last Thursday, on March 2nd.  They 'changed the way [their] system handles AJ Studio files for Masterpieces'.  I understand why this was necessary; some Jammers, for example, Artymis, had been unable to save their masterpieces.  I'm guessing that this is the problem that AJHQ was trying to fix with this change to the files.

'Unfortunately, this may also mean that old Masterpieces created and saved before this update on 3/2/2017 may not work.'  What?!  Well, yeah, that sure is unfortunate.  You would think that AJHQ would tell us Jammers before updating something as drastically as that?  Or at least mention it in the Jamaa Journal... or the Daily Explorer...

I created many masterpieces in the past that I would like to be able to give copies of to give to my buddies.  But now, this is no longer possible.  While I appreciate AJHQ keeping it up-to-date, and I understand some Jammers did have issues before with the old Masterpiece files, the new files are having issues, too.  The majority of my buddies are also unable to load the old masterpieces that they created.

'We understand your frustration concerning being unable to upload old Masterpiece files to the AJ Art Studio. This new way will create a better experience for players when creating their art but we know it can be difficult losing the old saves of pieces you did before. As our way of thanking you for your understanding and feedback, we are happy to award your account with 2 diamonds as a one-time customer service gesture.
The next time you enter Jamaa, you will have access to the 2 diamonds awarded which you can use to purchase all of your favorite items in the different shops throughout Jamaa! We hope that these diamonds help you feel a little bit better.'

I don't know if I even received these diamonds.  I think I did the math wrong, or they gave me the diamonds before I even received this e-mail, I don't know.  But this message made me realize that they were not planning on fixing this problem.  I don't know how to feel about that.

Honestly, I am still somewhat frustrated to no longer have access to these old masterpiece files to make copies of my old masterpieces, and improve on the old art.  While I am grateful for the diamonds, I still wish that AJHQ would instead find some way to fix this problem.  I understand why they needed to make some changes to the masterpiece system, but it's still kind of sad to think about all of the art that has been lost.

At this point, I accept that I will likely never be able to have access to these old Masterpiece files.  I still have screenshots of all of the Masterpieces I have drawn, and I still have the copies that I kept for my den.  It is somewhat frustrating to no longer be able to make copies of these Masterpieces to give to my buddies and trade.  But at least I can continue to make new art, and at least there IS a save and load option.  Before they added that, it was too hard to spend a lot of effort on one masterpiece that may or may not be approved.

I will continue to draw new Masterpieces, and eventually this incident will just be a minor frustration of the past.  But I still feel like this is a frustration that could have been avoided.

Well, here's Jamaasian Middle drawing.  This time I drew Ja!

As always, if you also read this story or you have a character in the story, fill out the form on my Jamaasian Middle Fan Art page for your character or any character(s) I haven't got the description of yet, and I'll draw them!

Animal Jam Speedart for Meganfurryfun37 + Flora from JM

Hey, Jammers!  Sorry that today's post is pretty late, I wanted to get Meganfurryfun37's (aka AJkraft) speedpaint video finished and posted before I did today's post and I didn't manage to finish that until now XD  So, here it is:

And of course, here's the art itself:

And here's Meganfurryfun37's drawing of my polar bear:

Eeeeeek I love it so much <3

In other news, I've been drawing the Bloggers from Swirlshine's Jamaasian Middle story.  Today I drew Flora!

Speedart Preview of Meganfurryfun37's Snow Leopard + Lostfairy from JM

Heyo, Jammers!  Today I'm mostly just going to share some of my art with you, because I honestly have no idea what to write about XD
So, I drew the sketch of Meganfurryfun37's (aka AJkraft) snow leopard for our art trade, and I'll be coloring that in digitally today!  I decided I'd share the sketch with you =3

Yeahhh, not the most exciting pose.... I'm still working on drawing poses better.  I can draw wolves in different poses pretty well, but I still need to improve on drawing other animals and people in different poses.  Drawing the characters/Bloggers from Swirlshine's Jamaasian Middle story has definitely been helpful with the drawing-people-in-different-poses part, though!  I usually try hard not to draw full-body pictures of people, or hands for that matter, but I've been doing that for each of the JM characters, and I'm pretty glad I am!  I definitely need the practice, and I can already tell that I'm improving.

Speaking of drawing Jamaasian Middle characters, here's today's JM drawing!  This time I drew Lostfairy =)

I may draw a few more characters today; if I do, I'll update this post ;)  As always, if you also read this story or you have a character in the story, fill out the form on my Jamaasian Middle Fan Art page for your character or any character(s) I haven't got the description of yet, and I'll draw them!

Animal Jam Fanfiction + Story Cards + Even more JM fanart!

Heyo Jammers!  I've got some cool stuff to share with you today, so here we go!

I decided to post my Animal Jam fanfiction story, The Time-Freeze, here on my blog!  I've wanted to do this in the past, but I never did because I was worried that I wasn't going to finish the story.  I only have about 6 chapters so far, but I hope that you guys will inspire me to keep writing this story, so yesterday I posted the first chapter on my new page, The Time-Freeze (AJ Fanfiction)!  I'll also be posting each chapter in regular posts as I release them, so that you'll know whenever I have a new chapter out.

So of course, here's Chapter One!

Chapter One- The Phantom-Archaeologist!

Fuzzy Bravegem checked her map one last time.  Her eyes sparkled with excitement.  "The location of the legendary Phantom Temple should be somewhere near here!" she said in hushed enthusiasm.  She eagerly searched the horizon for something resembling an ancient temple, but all she could see was the vast, swampy forest, along with a few mosquitoes.  One buzzed near her ear, and she pawed at it in an attempt to swipe it away.  It evaded her paw, buzzing out of reach.  Fuzzy huffed in annoyance, then continued to scan the forest around her.  The mosquito buzzed back, and Fuzzy turned to face the insect, growing quite irritated.  She swatted at it again.  The mosquito flew around her head, and Fuzzy continued attempting to swat it.  She chased the mosquito through the trees, running around in a crazed dance, paws flailing, as she tried to swipe at it.  She greatly regretted not bringing bug spray.
But suddenly, Fuzzy tripped over a rock!  "Oomph!" she exclaimed.   She stood up and shook the dirt off of her fur, then looked at the rock that had tripped her.  It was absolutely humongous!  Fuzzy examined it a bit closer, and then she gasped.  The rock was in the shape of... a PHANTOM!  There were more phantom-shaped rocks laying all around her.  That mosquito had just aided her in the most amazing discovery of the century- she, Fuzzy Bravegem, had found the Phantom Temple!!!!
Fuzzy grabbed her shovel out of her huge backpack, and immediately began uncovering the buried temple.  Suddenly, her shovel hit something that made a horrible shattering noise.  Fuzzy gasped.  What have I hit?? she wonders, worrying that she had damaged a priceless artifact in her excitement.  But it was far worse than that, she realized, as a dark fog filled the air- a fog darker than the deepest dark she had ever seen.  Fuzzy took a step back.  "W-what?" she whispered in fear, as the dark fog slowly took shape.... the shape of a PHANTOM!!!!
"Oh.  My.  Mira," murmured Fuzzy, her eyes wide with fear.  A real, live PHANTOM! Released by HER!  She didn't know whether to be amazed- or very, very scared.  The phantom stretched and yawned- a big, long yawn.  It hovered in the air in front of Fuzzy.
"Oh, my!" it said as it stretched out its tentacles, its voice deep and sounding almost... distorted. "Pardon me, ma'am, but what year is it?" it inquired.  Fuzzy stuttered for about a minute before she was able to stammer out an answer.
"Er, umm, 2017," she managed to say at last.  The phantom's eye widened and it stopped stretching.
"My, my! I have been trapped in that dreadful prison for quite some time!" it exclaimed.  Fuzzy continued to stare at it in awe.
"Who exactly ARE you?" she asked it.  The phantom laughed- its distorted laughter giving Fuzzy a deep chill that ran down her spine.

"Your animal tongue would be quite unable to pronounce my name.  You may call me simply, the Phantom.  Now, I have a little, teeny-tiny question to ask you and if you answer it correctly, I just may let you go," it said.  Fuzzy knew she should have been scared- terrified; even more than terrified!, and she was, of course.  But the scientist in her was completely in awe of the fact that she was speaking to an actual PHANTOM that it blocked her screaming urge to run away, as far away as possible from this creature of darkness.
"Of-of course!" she said.  This is an incredible opportunity to study a real, true, live phantom, she thought.
The Phantom smiled- another chill ran down Fuzzy's spine.  She was already starting to regret ignoring that need to get away.  "Good girl.  Now, tell me, did the Alpha's plans to trap all the phantoms in a Dark Realm succeed?" it asked.  Fuzzy nodded.
"Why, yes! I myself have visited the very portal they used to do it!  Of course, they moved the crystal that powered it to the Museum, but it's still QUITE a sight to behold!" she said, emitting a short, nervous laugh at the end.  A rather irritating trait of hers was to babble on and on whenever she grew nervous- and honestly, what sane being wouldn't be nervous when speaking to a phantom?
The Phantom smiled that cruel, twisted smile once more, and Fuzzy gulped audibly.  "Thank you very much.  And now, you are going to take me to this portal, and this museum, so that I can free my brethren and we can invade Jamaa!!!" it cried.  Fuzzy gasped.  The amazement was gone- in its place was just that overwhelming fear.
"You're CRAZY!" she exclaimed, and she finally obeyed her primal instinct to RUN.  She tried to gallop away from the phantom, and suddenly, the phantom thought that perhaps, just perhaps, telling the archaeologist about its plans wasn't such a good idea.
"Come back here!" it yelled at the arctic wolf, but Fuzzy didn't stop running through the trees.  The phantom roared, then attacked  her!!!

***

Cliffhangers!  Hooray!  What do you think will happen to Fuzzy?  I think I'll post the next chapter next week...  But anyways, if you're writing an Animal Jam fanfiction yourself, you'll know that it can be pretty hard to figure out what happens next.  I invented a fun game that can help with that!

It's called Animal Jam Story Cards.  What are Story Cards, you ask?  Well, it's a fun game that me and my sister, Cowie01, invented.  We would make cards and write random story inspirations on them, like, 'A character is betrayed' or 'A character finds a friend', then use them to create a story!  I decided to make my own, Animal Jam version, to help with writing The Time-Freeze, and thought I'd share them with you guys, too!

If you're thinking about writing an Animal Jam fanfiction and don't know where to start, or perhaps you're already writing an AJ fanfiction but you're stuck and don't know what should happen next.  Just print out these cards, cut them out, shuffle them, and start your story =D

The cards are just there for inspiration; you can interpret them however you like.  For example, if you're writing a very serious AJ fanfic, and you get the 'a character gets scammed' card but it doesn't fit in with the story, be creative!  Maybe instead of being scammed of items, they get conned or tricked in another way.

If you can think of some cool things for other AJ Story Cards, be sure to let me know in the comments down below!  I might make some more Story Cards and include your suggestions!  And also let me know if you use these cards to write your own AJ fanfiction; I'd love to read it!

And of course, it's time for me to share with you today's fanart for Swirlshine's Jamaasian Middle story!  Sooo, you know how I said I was going to draw one blogger a day?  Well, yesterday, I couldn't help myself, and I drew 3 bloggers.  Hehe.... anyways, here they are!

As always, if you also read this story or you have a character in the story, fill out the form on my Jamaasian Middle Fan Art page for your character or any character(s) I haven't got the description of yet, and I'll draw them!

Thanks for reading this blog post!  What do you think of The Time-Freeze?  Will you use the Animal Jam Story Cards?  What Blogger should I draw next?  Let me know in the comments down below!

Speedart Saturday + Sarahkey8's Jamaasian Middle Character

Heyo, Jammers!  It's Saturday, so that means SPEEDART SATURDAY 😄  I actually meant to upload this on Tuesday, but I didn't manage to get the narration done then.  Soo, I did it today!  Here it is; I hope you enjoy =)

And of course, here's the art itself:

And now, today's Jamaasian Middle drawing for Swirlshine's Jamaasian Middle story on her blog, The Weekly Jammer News!  I'm on a mission to draw all of the Blogger characters in this story, and today I drew my buddy Sarahkey8.

I like how this drawing turned out, though I did struggle with the hands... hands are hard to draw XD  I had to do quite a bit of digital editing to the hands, but in the end, I was satisfied with how they looked.

If you also read this story, or you have a character in this story, visit my Jamaasian Middle Fan Art Page and help me fill out the form provided for the Blogger characters in the story so I can draw them 😄  I'm currently working on drawing Purple!  I really hope all the Bloggers like the art of their characters, and hopefully Swirlshine likes that I'm drawing the characters from her story 😃

I'm going to be tagging all of my posts with art of the Blogger characters with the tag Blogger portal character art.  I also have a page called 'Jamaasian Middle Fan Art' where I'll post all of the characters I draw!

Masterpiece Malfunction + Gfox from Jamaasian Middle

Heyo, Jammers!  Crazcatlover here, back with another blog post!  I've got some sad, sad news to share with you today...  I can't make copies of any of the masterpieces I drew from before February, 2017.  My llama masterpiece.... gellyjones masterpiece.... All of them gone, except the few I've drawn in the last month!  My buddy, Floofyart, brought to my attention a horrible new glitch.  When Animal Jam updated yesterday, it corrupted all the old saved masterpiece files from before February or something, because whenever I try to load any, it gives me this message:

What??  'This Masterpiece could not be loaded.  Please try again.'  So I tried again.  And again.  And again.  And all the masterpieces from before February 2017 DID NOT LOAD.  I tried refreshing; still wouldn't load.  This isn't some fun, harmless glitch like a land animal managing to get underwater, this is a horrible glitch affecting many jammers!  As far as I know, this is happening to everyone.

Countless hours spent drawing Masterpieces, lost.  This is the kind of glitch that makes people quit.  I already contacted AJHQ, though they have not responded yet.  Hopefully this is a coding error that can be fixed by the team at AJHQ.  If it's not?  Then this is a dark, dark day in Animal Jam history.

Seeing as the majority of my masterpieces can no longer be loaded, I will be closing my masterpiece commissions completely until this glitch is fixed.  I don't want to draw any new masterpieces and lose those files, too, and obviously I can't load most of my old art to make copies of existing masterpieces.

Please don't spam AJHQ with e-mails about this issue; like I said, I already contacted them.  All we can do for right now is wait for the hard-working coding team at AJHQ to fix this.  Please let me know if this glitch is happening to you, too, or if you can still load old masterpieces from before February.

In other news, I just finished the drawing of Gfox from the Jamaasian Middle story by Swirlshine, author of  The Weekly Jammer News!

I've decided that I'm going to draw the Bloggers from the story one-at-a-time, as I have been drawing them, on paper with pencil, and then once I've drawn all of them, I'll make a huge speedart video where I color them all in digitally.  Obviously, there are a LOT of Bloggers in this story, so when I make that huge image, I'll be shrinking each character down a lot.  It'll still be a huge project, so I'm going to try to draw at least one Blogger a day.

If you also read this story, or you are a character in this story, please help me fill out the form below for each of the Blogger characters in the story!  I don't have full details of what each character looks like, so if you're a character in the story, it'd be really helpful if you filled the form in about your character!  So far, I have character descriptions of Karalee and Gfox.

Character's Name (Name from the story only):

Girl or boy:

Height (approximate is fine):

Weight (approximate is fine, like skinny/average/plump):

Hair color:

Eye color:

Skintone:

Hairstyle and length:

Clothes:

Top:
Pants/skirt:
Jacket, if applicable:
Shoes:
Other:

Please don't include any personally identifiable information if you fill out this form about a character in the story based off of you!  I just want to know what the characters in the story look like so I can draw them accurately; it just so happens that these characters are based off of real people.  You can say AJ items that your AJ animal wears for the 'clothes' if you want.  Whatever your character is described to look like in the story.

Technically they're all going to middle school soooo idk...  approximate age is no longer part of the form XD

(thanks to Karalee for writing this awesome character form!)

I'm going to be tagging all of my posts with art of the Blogger characters with the tag Blogger portal character art.  I'm also going to add a page called 'Jamaasian Middle Fan Art'.

Thanks for reading this post and hopefully AJHQ will fix this glitch soon!  Tell me in the comments below what you think of this glitch and whether or not you think AJHQ will be able to fix it.  And how do you feel about me writing these longer blog posts?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Imagination Fair 2016 + Old Art + Inspirational Speech + Swirlshine's Blog + Art for Karalee

Hey, Jammers!  Crazcatlover here, back with another blog post ;)  Today's post is very different from usual... and also much longer XD  So let's jump right in!

Do any of you remember the Imagination Fair in Animal Jam? It's something they host every year to promote creativity and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).  I was recently looking through some of my old art and found this!

Wow, that's some excessive watermarking XD And I wrote '7 days o a single charge' instead of '7 days ON a single charge'.... oopsy XD

It was my entry for the 2016 Animal Jam Imagination Fair.  I entered it in Science category first, but I didn't win.... But then I also entered it for Technology, and I won that!

I was super excited when I won XD  A device that could record and play back dreams is something I've wanted all my life, though I did once have a conversation with my buddy Germanshepherdluv2 on Animal Jam, where she mentioned that a pillow which could record dreams would be a great thing, soooo that was kind of my inspiration for this specific Dream Recording Pillow :)

I'd almost forgotten about this until I looked through some of my old art files and found that!  Also, if you ever think you're bad at art or your art isn't improving, think again.  This is some art I drew for my buddy Budgielove in March of 2016:

Oh, everything about this is wrong XD I didn't look at reference photographs back then; I only looked at Animal Jam animals.  If you look at any of my old art, you'll notice I pretty much drew all animals in the same pose: standing with one paw held up.  It makes it look like every animal I drew had an injured paw or something XD  Use reference photos, guys.  They really do help.  In one year of drawing, I've gone from THAT to this:

Never give up on art.  Just keep drawing and practicing.  Art is something that takes time.  Don't stop drawing just because you don't think you're good at drawing.  You cannot improve art without practice.  It's been about a year since I've started drawing Animal Jam animals for my friends.  And in that year, I've learned a lot of things about art.  And I'm still learning.  This year, I want to practice drawing humans more.  I want to start drawing more animals besides wolves.  And you get to be a part of this art journey with me.
If you want to be an artist, start drawing now.  In a year, your art will have improved immensely, but only if you pick up that pencil and start drawing today.

In other news, today I found The Weekly Jammer News, an Animal Jam blog by Swirlshine!  I haven't read very much of it yet, but so far it's a very cool blog, and Swirlshine has such a fun and interesting way of writing... a fun and interesting 'voice', to use proper writers' terms XD

I discovered that she had a really cool Animal Jam fan fiction story called Jamaasian Middle.  It's about what would happen if all her AJ friends and her went to the same middle school.  It's inspired by the Jamaasian High stories that some other AJ bloggers have started writing (including ajkraft, sarahkey8, lostfairy, and karalee).  I might write my own version next school year, who knows?  I really like reading AJ fanfiction, but I'm not very good at writing it myself XD

Anyways, I decided to take on the huge task of drawing all the Bloggers in the story XD  Right now, I don't have detailed enough character descriptions of all the characters to draw them all, so I decided to draw them one-at-a-time, and started by drawing my buddy, Karalee!

If you also read this story, or you are a character in this story, please help me fill out the form below for each of the Blogger characters in the story!  I don't have full details of what each character looks like, so if you're a character in the story, it'd be really helpful if you filled the form in about your character!

(thanks to Karalee for writing this awesome character form!)

Wow, this post is SUPER LONG!  I really like the longer post style, though, and I think I might start doing more posts like this in the future!  Usually I just post a video, maybe some art, and leave it at that, but I want to start working on making my blog interesting and spend more time writing posts.  I know my blog isn't very popular at the moment, but I want to start reaching out and commenting on other AJ blogs.

If any of you have any AJ blogs, I would really appreciate it if you could give me a little shoutout.  I work hard to make my Animal Jam content 100% kid-friendly.  I'm also going to be changing my 'no links in the comments' rule, so be sure to read the updated rules!  I now allow links to appropriate,  Animal Jam related websites.  So be sure to tell me about your favorite, kid-friendly Animal Jam blogs!

I cannot guarantee that links to outside websites will always be 100% kid-friendly like my blog!  I cannot control these websites, so they may be updated and no longer be appropriate.  If I discover that there is a link in a comment to a website that is no longer kid-friendly, I will delete the comment, but I can't promise that links will always be appropriate.  Just a fair warning for you guys ;)   Make sure to be careful and stay safe on the internet!
